Here's the story of how I came to own this rare piece. Before the release of the Fellowship of the Ring, New Line Cinemas gave Cannes the sword and shield to use on open night of the movie. About five days or so before opening night, The sword was listed on Ebay for ten days. All of the proceeds of the austion were to go to a charity called Ecoles du Monde. I was the high bidder and after about two months, I received the items from Paris. I had the items but did not know have rare and valuable they were until I went to DragonCon in Atlanta, Georgia during Labor Day Weekend. While there, I was swarmed by the good people from theonering.net. Among that group was a lady from New Zealand who worked on the movies with the costume department. She told me the story of how the items were given to Cannes and that there would not be any more of the movie props released to the general public for some time, if ever. She then looked the sword over and told me that I had an even rarer piece because this sword and shield had left Weta before it had a chance to be stamped by Weta's personal seal. So, not only did I have the only sword and shield from the movie that the general public would have a chance to get, I also had the only one with no Weta seal, so this is a doubly marked ONE OF A KIND PIECE! I have emails from Jamie Wilson, the LOTR Production Manager in New Zealand that confirms these things. Don't miss out on your one chance to own two of the most unique movie props from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy! |

Look at all the details on the pictures. The blade and the shield have Orc blood on it. The bottom of the shield has an elven design on it. The handle of the sword has the beautiful golden leaves wrapped around it. |
Here is the information I got from the Ecoles du Monde charity. Also, here is the box that the items came in and the label from Paris. |
